Join us in a Courageous Conversation

Sometimes it takes courage to talk about the 'unspeakable' issues we are confronted with, issues such as our experience of loss, our fear of death, our loneliness. And more often than not, we have no outlet to express these fears or a safe space where we can acquire coping mechanisms for these challenges.

"Courageous Conservations" is an initiative of Stepping Stone Hospice & Care Services and aims to create that safe space where you can turn the "unspeakable" issues into a conversation that can lead to better understanding.

"Working at a hospice exposes us to every kind of human emotion and experience. What we have learnt is that we all have a story. We all experience heartbreak, heartache, uncertainty and difficult times in our lives. Courageous Conversations was borne out of this knowledge," explains CEO Tersia Burger.

"It is our aim to hold monthly "Conversations", limiting it to 30 participants at a time and facilitated by Holistic Entrepreneur, Marisa Wolheim, a dedicated and passionate trainer with 21 years' experience in Hospice Care," says Tersia.

The first "Courageous Conversation" is set to take place on Saturday the 19th May with the theme being 'The Loss Toolbox". Loss comes in many different shapes and forms - death, rejection, job loss, trauma, divorce, self- doubt and many more. "Understanding the process of Loss and how it affects us can equip us to cope better and assist us to know how to hear and support those around us also going through Loss, for we never experience alone," Marisa says.

Marisa firmly believes in empowering people with the knowledge to understand the realities of life "such as loss, death and grief."

The Conversations will take place at at the beautiful and tranquil Café la Plume, which is located at 17 Joan Rd, Glenanda, Joburg South.

Cost is R150 per person, which includes the talk, any discussion notes as well as a light tea and refreshments. (Other items ordered from the café's menu will be for your own account.)

Booking is essential as these talks are limited to 30 participants. To RSVP, kindly email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
